How much chili does one packet make?
One 4-oz packet makes 2 quarts (64 oz) of chili, about 8–10 servings.
What else do I need to make the chili?
1 spice packet, 2 lbs of lean ground beef (up to 80/20), 6 oz of tomato paste, 2 tsp of red wine vinegar, 2 bay leaves and 8 cups of cold filtered water. Spaghetti, finely shredded cheddar cheese, onions and beans are optional toppings.
How do I make it?
Put 8 cups of cold filtered water in a stock pot. Add the ground beef and break it up with a fork. Stir in the tomato paste, spice packet, red wine vinegar and bay leaves. Bring it to a boil over high heat, stirring, then simmer on medium for 80–90 minutes until it thickens. Take out the bay leaves and let it cool. For the best flavor, chill it overnight, then reheat and serve it over spaghetti or on a hot dog. Every order includes a printed instruction sheet.
What is a 3-way?
A 2-way is spaghetti topped with chili. A 3-way adds shredded cheddar cheese. A 4-way adds onions or beans to a 3-way, and a 5-way adds both. A coney is a hot dog on a bun with mustard, chili, chopped onions and cheese.
